EE BIO

Skratten was born in Häädemeeste in 2002, when schoolmates Andres, Kaido, Raido, and Jaak started making music together. Back then, under the name KarnaK. It was a time of self-discovery, with heavy music but a style still in search.

"A man, they seek."

Soon, we were joined by a more experienced drummer, Tenno, allowing Jaak to focus on "singing". Our first original creation, "Urumun**id," was born — a piece that no one outside of Häädemeeste has fully understood. Yet it still captivates listeners indiscriminately to this day. We then took the name Skratten — a Swedish word in plural form, meaning laughter. We were kids, but we grew up.

"The young grow old".

We scattered across the world, and like most school bands, Skratten fell into a deep slumber. Only the Skratten Drum Project continued as a marching drum project. Then came the year 2024 and the "Frantic Rock" event in Häädemeeste. The time had come. Life had brought us maturity and messages to share. Rauno and Sandra joined us, adding a new smiling, folk-like color to the band. We breathed new life into Skratten with banjo, violin, zither, and choral music. Thus, our debut album "Taivatähed" was born. In it, we blend the old and the new, the bright and the harsh, the fast and the flowing, poetry and song. It begins with a piece narrated by Kaie Mihkelson about how our ancestors once set foot on our land. And everything that follows is for your imagination to fill.

Enjoy listening!
